Thomas (Tam the Bam) was given to me by my friend Jean Chambers, aged 5½ weeks. He was already weaned and house-trained, so settled in very nicely as one of the family. Chris & Ziggy adored him, and he followed them everywhere. He could always be found sleeping in one of their beds when he wasn't out prowling the woods behind our house. He had a fascination with machinery and used to sit on our motorbikes and go for wee jaunts with the boys and me! He also loved sitting on the hoover while I was trying to use it, and on the twin-tub washing machine when it was on spin cycle. He used to sleep up the chimney when the house was cold, and had to be bathed nearly every day! He enjoyed being pampered with the hairdryer!
He was a character, everybody loved Tam. He had a funny habit of sitting on the window ledge and growling like a dog if he saw a stranger! His presence is still missed, always will be, although I have had a few cats since he died. The current Boss of the House is Wee Zed, named after my late son, as he is Ziggy's cat's kitten.
Thomas was unfortunately killed by a local fox on 2 Jan 93, and it broke our hearts. Ziggy buried him in a wooden box in the heart of the woods he loved to prowl. R.I.P. TAM xxx

The Miracle
Ⓒ Ferna Lary Mills
The tiny caterpillar sleeps, wrapped in a silk cocoon.
It didn't die. It only waits. It will rise again very soon.
The breath of God revives it and dries each stiff, wet wing.
When it finally emerges, I believe even Angels sing.
Don't grieve for the caterpillar, for it truly didn't die.
God simply had a greater need for a beautiful butterfly.
Freed from its earthly bondage with wings of delicate lace,
it now soars in the Heavens, closer to God's loving Face.

"It is not just that animals make the world more scenic or picturesque.
The lives of animals are woven into our very being - closer than our own breathing - and our soul will suffer when they are gone."

Our pets, oh how we love them
We cherish them and care
Treasure the joy they give us
As our lives they share
But they're not ours forever
We know that from the start
Yet oh the pain and sadness
When the moment comes to part
It breaks our hearts, and yet
In spite of all the pain
Oh that we could have the chance
To love them once again
'Though nothing can replace
The friend that we have lost
Be thankful for the memories
And never count the cost

LITTLE GHOST CAT
Little ghost cat,
Sometimes I hear your gentle purr
And feel the soft touch of your fur.
Then, late at night old memories stir
Of the friend I loved and lost.
Little ghost cat,
By moonlight now you come and go
Unseen, and, like moving water flow
Through my dreams, calling as of long ago,
O friend I loved and lost.

On the Wings of Sorrow
On the wings of sorrow
Hope comes from Heaven above,
For your loved one is safely home,
Wrapped in the arms of love.
Your days may be long and lonely,
But faith will see you through;
Walk bravely on the path ahead,
Our Father will care for you.
Let tears of grief bring release,
Easing your sorrow and pain;
Hold memories close to your heart
'Til you meet your loved one again.

Cats
(by Irene A)
Without a sound they enter our lives
Sleek slender bodies stalking
A new life bound to an old spirit
Creeping through the grasses of our souls with burning eyes
Sharpening their claws on the bark of our hearts
Soft silent pads walking in and out of our lives
Quietly haunting the corners of our existence
With hearts of cedar and sage they come
Inviting us along on their journey through time
With eyes of fire they mold us into their slaves
Allowing us to join their cosmic voyage
They bless us with their presence, an eternal presence
Touch us with their love
And in a whisper they are gone
Floating flying fleeting through the universe
Moving traveling shifting through space and time
And we are left earthbound
Heavy as a mountain
Our hearts forever scarred by their claws
Our souls burned by their eyes.
Precious Love
The agony is so great...
and yet I will stand it.
Had I not loved so very much...
I would not hurt so much.
But God knows I would not want to diminish
that precious love...
By one fraction of an ounce.
I will hurt...
And I will be grateful for that hurt
For it bears witness to the depth of my love.
And for that I will be eternally grateful.

One Little Candle
By Carol Dunn
It’s just one little candle
One tiny flickering light
A challenge to the darkness
A small beacon in the night.
It could be just a gentle touch
A reminder that you’re there
Or a warm, compassionate hug
That shows you understand and care.
Sometimes it only takes your smile
To encourage and uplift
And should that smile lead to laughter
You’ve shared a special gift.
There’s comfort in shared silence
Or in a softly spoken word
Or in taking time to listen
To feelings that must be heard.
Yes, it’s just one little candle
Softly glowing in the night
But it can overcome the darkness
If it will only share it’s light.
Just one candle at a time
Each one giving from its heart
Reaching out to those nearby
Asking them to do their part.
To make sure the light keeps growing
Reaching out to those in sorrow
Offering comfort, warmth and hope
Strength and courage for tomorrow.

♥ Do not judge a song by its duration

♥ Judge it by the richness of its contents
♥ Sometimes those unfinished are among the most poignant…
♥ Do not judge a song by its duration
♥ Nor by the number of its notes
♥ Judge it by the way it touches and lifts the soul
♥ Sometimes those unfinished are among the most beautiful…
♥ And when something has enriched your life
♥ And when it’s melody lingers on in your heart.
♥ Is it unfinished?
♥ Or is it endless?

A Poem of Hope
One song can spark a moment,
One flower can wake the dream.
One tree can start a forest,
One bird can herald spring.
One smile begins a friendship,
One handclasp lifts a soul.
One star can guide a ship at sea,
One word can frame the goal.
One vote can change a nation,
One sunbeam lights a room,
One candle wipes out darkness,
One laugh will conquer gloom.
One step must start each journey,
One word must start each prayer.
One hope will raise our spirits,
One touch can show you care.
One voice can speak with wisdom,
One heart can know what’s true.
One life can make the difference.
You see, it’s up to YOU!
